Reed Machine Planer And Hand Plane By Robert DiLutis

The new anniversary edition of the Reed Machine Planer and Hand Plane is made of blue anodized aluminum and steel. The Reed Machine Planer removes cane from the inner diameter of the tube, making reed blanks of a consistent thickness. Using the provided reversible shims, the planer allows you to change the thickness of each reed blank to your preference. Standard setting is app. 125" or 112" blank thickness. The serrated clamp holds the raw cane in place to insure an accurate cut each time. Blanks are finished with such smoothness that sanding is sometimes unnecessary. 

Robert DiLutis is currently Professor of Clarinet at the University of Maryland School of Music in College Park, MD and Principal Clarinetist of the Annapolis Symphony.  Previously, Mr. DiLutis was Professor at the Louisiana State University, Assistant Principal and E-flat with the Rochester Philharmonic and Professor of Clarinet at the Eastman School. Making his Carnegie Hall Recital debut in 1989, Mr. DiLutis has also performed as featured soloist with the San Antonio Symphony, Baton Rouge Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic. In 2008 Mr. DiLutis toured with the New York Philharmonic on its historic trip to Pyongyang, North Korea. Mr. DiLutis is a graduate of the Juilliard School where he studied with David Weber. In addition to his performance career Mr. DiLutis is the creator of the Reed Machine, a reed-making device used by professionals around the world.
